2006 Annual Report

Come and join the fun!!!

What a special place Family Matters Community Center is!  Three months have flown by since I started working here and it just keeps getting better!  Currently we have 31 families and 40 children registered including two new families joining us just last week!

Children ages birth to five are welcome with a parent or guardian. We are open Daily, Monday through Friday, 10:00 AM to Noon.  No registration fee.  No tuition fee.  This is a safe place for parents and children to come together for fun, friendship and learning.  Each day includes circle time, singing, dancing, interactive play, snack time, story time, arts and crafts, and weather permitting, outdoor play.  We offer adults support groups, coffee, and the opportunity to meet families in the area.

Join us to see “Monsters Inc.” on Thursday, March 9th at 10:30 AM at the Harbor Yard Arena.  Tickets are $12.  RSVP by February 1.

(If you would like a schedule of events for first quarter, please let me know.)

We generally follow the Bridgeport Public School schedule for closings and vacations.  However, we do not close for winter or spring break.  During that time, all older siblings are welcome to attend.  Feel free to drop in with your family.

Jo-Ann Carpenter coordinates the food pantry, open on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10:00 AM to 11:45 AM.  Last year we fed approximately 631 individuals. In November, we distributed over 150 Thanksgiving Baskets, up 50% from last year!   The clothing closet for children birth to 4 years old is available as needed.

We have been a part of the community since 1994.   We look forward to the future and our new facility at Calvary St. George’s.  Until then, we will be open and available to all who wish to join us.  Volunteers are welcome.  If you enjoy working with children, we need you.  Please call or stop in for more information.

Please know that you and your families are always welcome at Family Matters Community Center.
